FC Stratford itching for action

Stratford Editorial 11th Jan, 2018   0

FC STRATFORD will be looking to make up for lost time when they finally kick-off 2018.

Dave Poulson’s side have played just once since December 2 after last weekend’s fixture – a Challenge Vase semi-final tie at Coventry side GNP Sports – was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

It has been rearranged for Tuesday, January 23, with the match now being played at the MoodChimp Stadium.

Stratford will hope the weather turns in their favour when they head to Hereford side Bartestree on Saturday in Midland League Division Three.

Bartestree lie third in the table, while FC Stratford’s lack of games has meant they have slipped to sixth in the table, but they have seven games in hand on Bartestree, who are six points better off.

Stratford return to cup action on Tuesday when they face Bustleholme in their rearranged Birmingham Vase third round tie.

FC Stratford A cruised to a 7-0 win against table-topping visitors Welford in Stratford Alliance Division Two.

Freddy Murphy led the way with a hat-trick at the Home Guard Club in Tiddington, while Sam Davis netted twice and Jono Stephens and James Macmillan were also on target.

The A team will aim to secure a quickfire double as they head to Welford’s Snyder Meadow on Saturday.
