STUDLEY FC romped to a 5-1 win against Heanor Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round to make the perfect start to their 2022/23 campaign.
The Bees made a slow start and survived a couple of early scares as Heanor hit the post before Bren Bunn made a fine save in the Studley goal.
However, Studley took the lead on 14 minutes when new signing Joe Blowers scored from 20-yards out.
And fellow new recruit Ben Ashby opened his Bees account just two minutes later with a composed finish past the keeper from just inside the penalty area after he was played through on goal.
The game was ended as a contest on 39 minutes when Studley captain Dan Carter found the net with a venomous strike from 18-yards out.
And things went from bad to worse for Heanor when their captain was sent off for a dangerous tackle and Jake Donnelly scored from the resulting free-kick to hand the Bees a four-goal advantage at the break.
Studley added their fifth goal on 53 minutes when Max Black slotted home to become the third debutant on the scoresheet before Heanor grabbed a late consolation.
The Bees are next in action at home to Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday, August 13 with kick-off at 3pm at Studley Sports Centre.
