Henley Tennis Club looking to build on exciting times

HENLEY Tennis Club members gathered to hear of a successful 2016 at the club’s AGM.

The open day in April was well attended and there was continued success with junior membership and competitive play in local leagues.

Club competition success was also recognised with the award of several trophies.

The open day attracted more than 70 people to join in the fun and games with family and friends. Parents enjoyed cardio tennis, older juniors were able to benefit from tips and guidance from a qualified coach and learn more about improving their game, while the younger ones got involved in mini tennis.

Coaching has always been a priority at the club and the numbers in the junior section remain high. The club has entered more junior mini tennis leagues than ever before and runs nearly 40 different group coaching sessions for adults and juniors throughout the week.

One of the main objectives for the club is to provide a good balance between social and competitive play and there are seven floodlit courts, social tennis, tournaments and other activities run throughout the year.

The club also continues to field teams in the men’s, ladies’ and mixed leagues.

The next open day is on Saturday, April 1 between 11.30am and 3.30pm when the club will welcome potential new members to come and join in a range of tennis-based activities.
