High fives for triumphant Tornados

STRATFORD Town Tornados U13s completed their season in style by winning the Stratford Town five-a-side tournament at DCS Stadium.

Tornados recovered from a shaky opening game to triumph in style with a 2-0 victory over Christ the King in the final.

In their group opener against Stratford Town Lions, despite taking an early 3-0 lead through goals from Jimmy Middleton, Olly Parriss and Sam Hill, Tornados were pegged back and had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Comfortable victories against Leamington Brakes and Santiago Lions then followed before a last-minute volleyed equaliser from Lucas Brannan secured a 1-1 draw against tournament favourites Christ the King in the final group game to take Tornados into the semi-finals as group winners.

Leamington Brakes awaited in the semi-finals and goals from Middleton and Hill booked Tornados’ place in the final.

Christ the King were the opponents in the final in which an early goal from striker Middleton put Tornados ahead.

Tornados keeper Max Gregory then made a series of fine saves to preserve his side’s lead before Middleton clinched Tornados’ first tournament triumph with a long range free kick.
