STRATFORD gymnast Luis Smith was among the success as Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy sent eight teams to compete at the West Midlands George Finney Teams Championships at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent.

This was a new squad featuring several new members who had been promoted through the academy’s squad system for the up and coming packed year of competition.

Six of the teams all competed in round three and achieved some fantastic results in earning the club three gold medals and three silver in the under 9 beginner girls (silver), under 9 advanced girls (gold), under 9 advanced mixed (gold), under 11 advanced boys (silver), under 11 beginner mixed (silver) and under 13 intermediate boys (gold).

Later in rounds four and five the under 9 beginner boys’ won team gold and in the following round the over 16 intermediate mixed team also won gold, capping an amazing weekend of very tidy and tight routines.
