A STRATFORD Triathlon Club quartet travelled to Gloucestershire to compete in the Tewkesbury Aquathlon – the second of the Triathlon Grand Prix races for 2018.
This swim-run event, with a 400m pool swim followed by a four-lap run around the school fields, does not sound too challenging, but it was a very muddy field which greeted the competitors.
James Purdy led the Stratford team home in 29:40. Pleased with his swim, he is coming back to run fitness after a chest infection and was happy with his result.
Rebecca Pridham showed her hard work is beginning to pay off with second place in her age group, finishing in 32:23.
Dan Whittington, so keen to start his swim he actually started early only to be called back, came third of the Stratford quartet in 35:59.
The swim discipline proved challenging for Lisa Whittington following her shoulder injury and she came back with a solid run to finish the race in 38:21.
