CLAVERDON were unable to end the Midlands Four West (South) season on a winning note as they were beaten 28-8 by high-flying visitors Old Wheatleyans on Saturday.
However, the win was not enough for the Coventry side to seal promotion as they finished level on points with second-placed Bedworth, but behind the runners-up on both number of wins and points difference.
Despite the final day defeat, it has been a positive season for the Lions who finished fourth on 70 points from their 20 matches, which yielded 14 wins.
