Mat hunts more Silverstone joy

HENLEY-IN-ARDEN’S Mat Jackson will be raring to go this weekend when the British Touring Car Championship show rolls into the home of British motorsport – Silverstone – for the penultimate round of the 2015 season, writes Andy Parsons.

Jackson will still be on a high following a very successful outing last time out at Rockingham where he bagged a first win of the season in the second race of the day, having already secured a second placed finish in the first race.

Having only entered the championship after the mid-season break, Jackson already lies 14th in the standings and the white number 4 Motorbase Performance Ford Focus with its new Ecoboost engine is certainly turning a few heads.

Who knows where they would be now if they had completed the whole season thus far?

Jackson though is just glad to be back behind the wheel and is more than ready to attack one of his favourite tracks.

He said: “Silverstone has always been very kind to us in the past and, with the car performing so well this year, I feel sure we’ll be able to repeat our past successes.

“The Focus is well suited to the circuit and the chassis has always worked well there so, with changes we’ve made this year, I fully expect us to be challenging for pole and race wins again this weekend.

“Rockingham was a mega result for us and now we’ve had a taste of glory we’re ready for more!”
