JOHN MAYCOCK was victorious in the Stratford & District Airgun League Senior Shield competition for the second successive year.

This year’s event was held at Wilmcote Social Club last Thursday and shooters had five pellets on each of the two targets and clean bulls counted as 5.1 points.

Ten shooters competed including new league member Trevor Batchelor.

Alison McMillan was the first round leader with 23.3 points, closely followed by Maycock with 23.2 and Alan Brookes was also in contention with 23.1 points.

The second round saw McMillan shoot a mini possible – five bulls, four of which were clean for 25.4 points – which made her top shot on the night.

Maycock shot four bulls and a four for 24.2 points which gave him 47.5 points and Brookes shot another 23.1 points for a total of 46.2.

However, with this being a competition for seniors, the older shooters are entitled to bonus points dependent on their age.

As the veteran shooter on the night, Maycock was awarded three points and emerged as the winner for the second successive year with a total of 50.4 points.
