Midlands glory for Hammadi

Stratford Editorial 19th Nov, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

STRATFORD & District Boxing Academy gained another champion over the weekend as Cieran Hammadi competed victoriously in his first Junior Novice Midlands Final on Sunday afternoon in Stoke.

Up against Andrew Crane from Burton ABC, Hammadi secured his first title with a points victory. It was a hard fought bout in which both boxers gave everything they had right to the final bell.

Going into this final Hammadi had only had two previous bouts and head coach Mat Pickering was full of praise for his efforts.

“Cieran had to dig very deep for this win. He will certainly grow from this performance.” said Pickering.

“The club is very proud of how far he’s come in such a short space of time. Well done Cieran.”

Hammadi now proceeds to the Pre quarter-finals of the National Championship on Sunday in Bedworth.
