STRATFORD will be looking to highlight their title aspirations in the Warwickshire League Premier Division when they welcome fellow contenders Attock to Swans Nest Lane on Saturday.
The Panthers will be seeking a seventh win in an unbeaten nine-match run – the other two matches were abandoned – after they recorded a three-wicket success at Coventry & North Warwickshire on Saturday.
Victory, sparked by a 136-run partnership between skipper Dexter Purser and Alex Marney, leaves Stratford third in the table, seven points behind leaders Walmley and 15 ahead of fourth-placed Attock.
Opener Purser smacked a run-a-ball 93 and Marney hit a more studious 55 to steer the Panthers home with 11 balls left against Cov & NW.
The hosts, having elected to bat, were dismissed for 194 after Archie Walker (4-31 off ten overs) and James Urquhart (3-32 off ten) proved their key destroyers.
Opener Matthew Naylor led the batting with 62, aided by 42 from Jack Horsley.
Stratford’s reply was stuttering at 15-2 but Purser and Marney rallied the innings with a third-wicket stand of 136 before Purser fell for 93 off 88 balls, including 13 fours and two sixes.
Marney’s 55 came off 107 deliveries and they still had a little more to do after slipping to 181-7 before Ben Pigott (13no) and Walker (12no) guided them home.
