WELFORD dented Studley Rangers’ challenge for the Stratford Alliance Division Two title by securing a 2-1 away win.

Welford were quick out of the blocks with George Naylor netting inside two minutes at the Entaco before Dominic McElroy doubled the lead on 35 minutes.

Although Jamie Spencer pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to play, Welford held on for their first win of 2018 to leapfrog Studley into second spot.

However, Welford, with one game left, cannot catch leaders Inkberrow A, who now lead Studley by eight points but having played two games more.

Henley Forest Reserves moved up to fourth with a 4-3 victory at home to FC Stratford A. Jamie Walsh struck twice for Henley, with Steven Ebdon and Bobby James also scoring, while Tom Daccus (2) and Freddy Murphy netted for FC Stratford.

Bretforton Old Boys stretched their lead at the top of Division Three to six points with a 2-0 win at Shipston Excelsior Colts.

Bretforton have one match to play but second-placed Inkberrow A have four games in hand and five to play and White Eagles, on the same points as Inkberrow, have two games in hand on the leaders and three to play.

Tom Bluck and Ollie Ashley-Clarke both scored twice to secure FISSC Reserves’ 4-1 victory against visitors Tysoe United. Chris Welsby got the Tysoe goal.
