CLAVERDON Tennis Club’s Richard Butler has been rewarded for his commitment by being presented with a Long Service Award from the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League.

Richard, a committee member of the league, received an engraved hip flask from league secretary Corin Bishop to mark his efforts as Division Four organiser over ten years.

As well as taking on this league role, Richard has also been the Claverdon A team secretary/captain for the past 13 years since taking on those roles in 2004.

The league secretary congratulated Richard, who is thoroughly deserving of the award for all the effort and service he has given to both league and club over this period.

The league, which covers the South Warwickshire and district areas of the Midlands including parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, also stages an inter-league Charity Cup final between the winners of this league and the Winter League.

It consists of two men’s doubles pairs per team and has now expanded to record levels with 48 teams competing in six divisions.

It also runs a junior competition containing 16 teams split into four pools. The junior competition began in March while the men’s league begins later in April.
