STRATFORD Sharks’ junior swimmers clinched promotion to Division One of the Nuneaton Junior League as they finished a close second to Redditch in the Finals Gala in Wolverhampton on Saturday.
The nine to 12-year-old boys’ and girls’ teams scored 219 points to finish eight points behind Redditch but well ahead of third-placed Bromsgrove on 180 points.
The 54-team league, split into three divisions around the Midlands, gives many of the younger swimmers the first opportunity of competitive swimming and, on the evening, there were many excellent swims in a highly-charged atmosphere.
