Sky Blues up for the survival fight - Dabo

RETURNING defender Fankaty Dabo says there is plenty of belief of maintaining Championship status around the Coventry City camp, after picking up another useful point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

The Sky Blues’ Matty James secured a point for the visitors shortly after the break at Ewood Park, after Ben Brereton put Rovers ahead midway through the first half, despite Leo Skiri Ostigard seeing red late on.

It was another key result which keeps City in 20th place, six points clear of the drop zone ahead of tomorrow night’s home clash with promotion-contenders Middlesbrough (7pm).

For Dabo, who had been out of action for the previous four weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Sheffield Wednesday in January, his earlier than anticipated return was a welcome one.

“It was tough and hard, and I am just happy to be out there and playing again,” he said.

“The game was there to be taken and we had to come out fighting and that is what the gaffer has said to us and that’s what we did.”

“The Championship is relentless, we knew that coming into it, we are still adapting and are adjusting, we will learn and make sure we pick up the points we need because that is what we need to do.

“100 percent I believe in the staff and the team, we believe in each other.

“We always say we have been unlucky but it is what is, we want to stay up and we know we can so we can do it.”
