Stratford Racecourse to switch media outlet mid-way through 2017 season

Stratford Editorial 30th Jan, 2017   0

STRATFORD-on-Avon Racecourse will switch media outlets later this year by joining Racing UK’s parent company, Racecourse Media Group.

The course will make the switch from current providers SIS to RMG on July 1 later this year, meaning the course’s fixture on Tuesday, June 20, its last on BSkyB channel AtTheRaces.

Instead, fixtures from July onwards will be broadcast on RacingUK – with Leicester and Taunton Racecourses also set to switch.

The deal is for all audio-visual rights, with licensed betting offices (LBO) rights for the trio of racecourses forming part of RMG’s five-year agreement with SIS from April 1, 2018.

Richard FitzGerald, chief executive of Racecourse Media Group, said he is delighted to welcome Stratford-on-Avon to the RMG family.

He said: “The quality of the racing at all three courses sits perfectly with Racing UK’s output.

“The move is a clear endorsement of the RMG business model and its collective approach – which is 100 per cent owned by our shareholder racecourses and reinvests all profits in the sport.”

Nick Lees, chairman of Stratford-on-Avon racecourse, said: “Racecourse Media Group’s efficient and successful business model will provide many commercial benefits.

“Racing UK’s commitment to consistently producing quality output, alongside excellent marketing and promotion of the racecourses and the sport, will further improve our offering.”
