YOUNGSTERS from Thomas Jolyffe Primary School are celebrating after winning the Stratford Town Football Club Schools Tournament organised by Paul Eden.

The Thomas Jolyffe year five and six boys’ football team secured their second trophy of the season with victory at the competition.

The boys sailed through the group stage with three wins – 1-0 against Temple Grafton, 4-0 against Snitterfield and 4-0 against Bridgetown – to secure a place in the semi-finals.

They faced a very strong Wellesbourne team in the semi-final and a well taken goal from Dylan and a determined defensive performance booked their place in the final against The Willows.

Thomas Jolyffe showed no sign of nerves in the final, saving some of their best football of the day for the final against The Willows.

Within the first two minutes a superb piece of passing football between Tom, George and Dylan ended with Dylan threading a perfect ball through to Louie, who placed a composed finish past the goalkeeper.

After that, it was a case of staying calm and keeping the ball, which was helped expertly by the defensive unit of William and Charlie.

As the final whistle blew, the boys celebrated the terrific achievement of winning the tournament without conceding a single goal.

The team was Oliver in goal, Charlie and William in defence, Louie, George, Tom and Bill in midfield and Dylan as striker.
