A TRIO of Stratford Athletic Club runners finished under the four-hour mark as they featured as part of the record entry of 44,389 from 133 countries in the 45th running of the Berlin Marathon.

The first of these was Sarah Boundy (3:40:32) in her third marathon of the year as she completed the course in a personal best time, some ten minutes quicker than her time for the Manchester Marathon in March and a couple of minutes quicker than her previous best time at Edinburgh in May.

Next to finish, hot on the heels of his recent run in the Kenilworth Half, was Adam Evans in 3:45:55 and Craig Millard (3:56.18) completed the Stratford effort with a 26-minute PB.

Millard was running in a ‘Breast Cancer Now’ bib in memory of his wife, who passed away earlier in the year.

THE RUTLAND Marathon takes place in the smallest English county and its setting is one of the most scenic public spaces in the Midlands.

The view was enjoyed by Stratford AC’s Ivan Sarti who ran magnificently to finish in sixth place overall, recording a time of 3:15:23.

Running at an average pace of 7:27 per mile, he comfortably won his age category, finishing 12 minutes ahead of his closest rival.
