AVON recorded the highest team score of week seven in the Stratford and District Airgun League.

Nick Williams, who took up bell target shooting again this year and joined the team this season, shot his first possible, the only shooter with maximum points this week, as Avon sealed a 232-203 win against MEB.

Team-mates Richard Groom, Steve Ray and Alison McMillan missed the bull just once for scores of 34.

MEB’s new shooter, Rob Dipple, and Paul Onions were the only members of their team to stay out of the threes for scores of 33 and 32 respectively.

Wilmcote remain top of the table with a 229-212 scoreline against Binton B.

Both teams fielded eight shooters and Wilmcote hit only bulls and fours which included 34 from John Maycock, a season best, and Jamie Clarke.

Binton had some loose threes though Benn Chamberlain managed a season’s best shot of 32.

Second-placed Binton A led the scoring throughout their match against Home Guard again scoring only bulls and fours to gain a solid 227-213 win.

Home Guard’s most consistent shooters, Gareth Morris, Alan Brookes and Andy Morris shot very respectable scores of 32 and 33.

Avenue had to take two A N Other scores to lose by just one point 211- 210 against Clifford.

Both sides fired a few loose shots which prevented high individual scores though Ben Withers and Jay Morris (Clifford) and Richard Mills and Steve Garlick (Avenue) all shot 32s.
