STRATFORD Cycling Club’s youth riders (12-16) were invited to have a go at time trialling, although riders had to be followed by a parent to ensure their safety.

Three youngsters had a go on the Aston Cantlow circuit, which is 5.6 miles long, and the trio relished the occasion.

Baden Green completed two laps and won the event of 11.2 miles in 34mins, 45secs, whilst Kieron Speechley and Charlotte Johnson rode the one-lap course and posted 17.11 and 17.43 respectively.

This is a tough but interesting little course but true to form Keir Lewis posted another junior club record as he finished first with 27.36 – the first time he has beaten all his senior colleagues.

He was closely followed by Johann Breytenbach with 28.03, whilst Mick Stallard and Martin Millington shared third spot with 28.13.

Other times: Pete Ward 28.23; Robin Corder 28.31; Carl M Taylor 29.22; Nigel Humphreys 29.58; James Fidoe 30.33; Adrian Osborn 30.35; Keith Walton 30.52; Paul Freeman 31.08; Stephen Eggleton 31.29; Chris Huxley 31.36; Mervyn Mutton 31.50; Jim Berkeley 32.01; Andrew Speechley 32.17; Nicholas Gardner 32.52; Teresa Lewis 33.43; Declan Logue 34.40; Lisa Davies 36.02; Miranda Harris 38.13.

David Barker, who somehow missed a turn and went off course, posted 38.22. There was just one visitor – Cycle Studio’s Paul Turner – who recorded 29.18.
