Zoe bounces back in fine style

ZOE CHANDLER produced a highly impressive performance in her first 10km race since her lengthy recovery from a pelvic stress fracture.

The Stratford AC runner finished 12th female at the Telford 10k – just 39 seconds outside her personal best – in Sunday’s rearranged event, traditionally one of the top quality races in the road running season.

There were nearly 1,000 runners in action and U23 athlete Chandler was to the fore at the elite start. The first kilometre was a little fast due to nerves but Chandler soon relaxed and after that managed to keep things pretty consistent.

Running with a small group who worked well together to push each other on, she crossed the line in 37.09. First lady was Caryl Jones in 33.18.

Chandler said: “I’m absolutely chuffed with my race on Sunday! I was very happy to cross the line in 37.09 and I’m very much looking forward to what this year has to bring.”
